If you are a free Grindr user then you can only see the nearest 100 guys in your Grindr cascade. But with a canny use of the free filters you can get to see many more guys – just not all at once.
Free Grindr users have access to three free filters (although only one at a time can be used). These three filters are: Age; Tribes; Looking For. The age filter is the one you will be using.
First decide on an age range which represents the ages of guys you are interested in. For example, guys aged 20 to 39. Then break this age range into smaller bands. In our example we could break the age range 20 to 39 into five smaller age bands as follows:
Set your age filter to only show guys aged between 20 and 23 and browse through the cascade. When you have finished change the age filter to only show guys aged between 24 and 27. Your cascade will be populated with completely new guys. Browse through it, then change the age filter again. By the time you have viewed the guys aged 36 to 49 you will have seen 500 different profiles.
This trick only works perfectly with the age filter, as guys can only have one age and therefore can only appear in one age band. It will work to a limited degree with the Tribes and Looking For filters, but be aware that you will sometimes see the same guys showing during your multiple perusals of the cascade. If you filter the first time by ‘Daddy’ and the second time by ‘Bear’, guys who have specified that they belong to both the Daddy and Bear tribes will turn up in your cascade on both viewings.
The filtering trick is a bit convoluted, but it will get you past the 'just 100 profiles' that the free Grindr app tries to impose on you.
